To whom it may concern,
We want to present our complaints which concern the official documents on the curriculum of the Swedish upper secondary school at Skolverket’s website; In these documents, which are
handed out to the students attending upper secondary school, it is stated that their courses involve knowledge of men in particular.
After reading these documents, many of us were upset to have found that the word ‘Man’ was referring to the entire humanity. We quote; “Aesthetics covers our experience of everything Man has created” and this is not a question about a single mistake, as for that, it is used several times in the documents. Not only is the phrase ‘Man’ used to refer to people in general, it is also capitalized.
We have not been able to look at all the syllabi, but we have looked at the
following (and we have found the mistake in all of them);
- Arts Programme
- Child and Recreation Programme
- Health Care Programme
- Hotel and Restaurant Programme
- Natural Science Programme
- Social Science Programme
It is our hope that these documents are looked at and ammended.
Best regards
